If you're travelling to or from Bristol Airport this summer, it's worth being aware of planned overnight works on sections of the M5 in Somerset.
National Highways has scheduled a series of overnight closures and traffic management measures between 14 June and 6 August 2026, with most works taking place on Sunday to Thursday nights. As the M5 is the main route between Mid Devon and Bristol Airport, some late-evening and early-morning journeys may be affected by diversion routes during the works.
These closures are planned overnight when traffic levels are lower, but they can result in longer journey times for some late-evening and early-morning airport transfers.
The good news is that if you've booked with Devon Transfers Private Hire, there's nothing you need to do. I monitor planned roadworks and motorway closures when planning every Bristol Airport transfer and will allow additional time where required.
As always, my aim is to ensure you arrive at Bristol Airport comfortably and with plenty of time before your flight.
For the latest closure locations and dates, please refer to National Highways travel updates.
